MEDIA 8-12-07
When writing about the Media it is best to understand that Media might be written, some form of visual, as TV, Movies or anything that transfers information. It could be a group of farmers around a wood, burning heater in the middle of the winter. A National Magazine had an article that stated a National TV personality was so popular that by merely the clicking of 20 thousand remotes could get that many votes for a certain National candidate for Presidential nomination. There was no proof given, just a statement. This widely read magazine should have indicated the piece written was an editorial or a report. This type of information goes on in some form all the time. The statement by a politician on TV, “The people want a certain thing”, all the time is so misleading they should be made by the person doing the interview to show proof that’s what people want. They will sometimes say a poll indicates this and no one should believe a poll. The politicians don’t even believe them.
During the Second World War a man said in my Dad’s store that a certain foreign people had children like dogs and cats, by the litter. When asked how he knew this he replied that a certain newscaster had said that if these people started walking slowly into the ocean they would never drown the population because they had children faster than would die if they were to walk in the ocean. This man had two sons in the War so that might have caused Him to say this but some one might have really believed Him and repeated it. Regardless of the reason why the media is always giving the wrong information to people and we should be on guard and listen very careful when we listen.
