Government cannot seem to get
enough war.
The U.S.A.
is talking about the danger of another war this one with Iran. I seems to me we have been in enough war to
do for a time .I was reflecting on just the last six we have been in
lately. All through 1995 the Nation
celebrated the Anniversary of D day and VJ day with much hoopla and media
coverage. The dropping of the Atom Bombs in August 45 and celebrations of the
victory over Japan
was announced with moments of silence and other carrying ons. The bombing of Pearl
Harbor was the center of a few days of reverent thought and much memorials at the site of the catastrophe.
D Day amd VJ Day celebration is over. A President that
ran from the draft helped celebrate at a D Day site, many politicians and other
great and small made hay while the flag was on high. Veterans of the parachute
jump behind enemy lines reenacted their part in the invasion. Many articles have been written about the
medal winners and others part in the European struggle.
We always say a few prayers for the men who died at
Pearl Harbor and veterans of the First World War, as well as the thousands that
died in the two atomic bomb blasts in Japan. Very seldom is the Korean
Police Action mentioned and our Nation is still trying to figure out the
Vietnam Fracas. The first Military action against Iraq was a hoot,
the real reason for that engagement seems to have been for oil. Just before that, we gave Iraq a whole
lot of corn. Some politician made a lot
of money making sacks because some extra ones were used for sand bags here in Liddieville. Oil keeps getting mentioned while the present
Iraqi war or whatever you call it is going on.
Some folks believed at first it was because of the Twin Towers Bombings,
but those bombers were from Arabia. This
country has allowed other nations to control our main energy source so we will
fight their battles any time they need us.
The way things are looking foreign folks will soon control our very
economic life and guess who will be in the drivers
seat? It will not be America,
except when it is time to send money and fight the battles for the rest of the
world. Look down at dear old Haiti
and observe what a joke that was and is not over taking our money fast as we
send it. Very little news about that
little ole “mess up”. The Haiti thing started back about the
time consolidation of the high schools in Franklin Parish did in 1915 or 1916.
Remember the Bosnia Serb, Croatian screw ups?
They started years before the start of WW I. Have we been told how many American troops
are still involved? We cannot withdraw
all our troops if we did, the fighting will start all over again. The same will be said about Iraq.
