An example of foolish things politicians do is the way they waste money on education. The Federal Government should go back and do something they never seem to do that will help a situation, check what Ole Ike did when He was President. He and Congress got together and gave stipends to teachers to return to school in the summer and take courses in subjects they taught to improve knowledge and methods courses to improve teaching skills. Sputnik caused that to happen. In a few years math and science knowledge as well as other subject matter showed great improvement in the students. Test scores went up. Now politicians are involved in all areas of education from teacher aide selection to whether to really discipline students or waste taxpayer money on something like silly student handbooks, T.V. cameras on buses, in hallways, rest rooms and other places where Teachers and Principals should be at various times. Now they want to set standards and set policies which have put a lot of the schools on the bottom of everything but body fat.

Have you been on the bottom of anything yet? Don’t be critical of someone’s appearance; they may be near the bottom or on the bottom. Whose fault is it that students score so close to or on the bottom? Wonder how they feel?
