CASUALTIES OF RECESSIONS AND DEPRESSION I

Reading the title of this little reflection their seems to be a mistake.  There is no mistake because we have had only one nationwide depression in modern times but we have had several recessions.  I have a Sat. Dish to help with the boredom of retirement and have decided that I would skip one day’s meal to pay the small amount it costs per month.  I have been watching the two political parties politic about various problems we have and try and select one person to run as that party’s nominee for President of this Democratic Republic of The United States of America.  Today with the United States owing every civilized County in the world either a lot of money or at least a small amount all candidates have as a solution to our problems at least a large amount or a small amount of taxpayer or borrowed money. I will not go into details but one example was given on a Fox problem hosted by one of their financial experts that being if South Korea demanded we pay them all we owed to that one country we would have to go into bankruptcy. That caused me to go into a little reading of an old History book copyright 1943.

Depression 1929 started a new chapter in the United States.  The Federal Government started a nationwide public assistance program involving millions of dollars.  The people getting the money had to work for it.  Some examples were the renovation and construction of mattress for the ladies and digging one hole, two hole, three hole, or four hole out door toilets for the men folks.  The number of holes was dependent on the number in the family. You can joke about a family of ten. Many state parks were built throughout the country, Buildings as Gymnasiums for School Districts, City halls for towns and similar projects were constructed by the W.P.A. with about 90% Federal funds and 10% local or State funds. That was when part two or Chapter Two begins when the depression ended at the same time World War Two ended.  That did cause some study before I could reflect on Chapter Two.  That reflection is next.
